Prerequisite
To make learning morse more intuitive and fun for myself, I put together an arduino in a box you can hook morse keys up to, and use as a keyboard on your computer. it beeps every time you press it, and converts dits and dahs to keystrokes. You can go read about that project here (WIP NO CURRENT LINK) if you want — I highly encourage you build one of your own. It has made learning and using morse way more accessible and rewarding and I continue to learn and use it as a result
Memorize the sounds/phrases
I got this from a video from Nelson Dellis on learning morse. it’s the very first result on youtube lol. Rightfully so, I would say. Watch their video, start on method 2 @ 7:08. They explain it perfectly
Learn what the letters sound like. How they bounce and flow. You can memorize morse by breaking down the dots and dashes as phrases Multi-syllables are dashes, single syllables are dots, essentially.

Reinforcement through gamification
A great way to reinforce your morse skills is playing games! The one I’ve found that I’ve basically stuck to (because im a sucker for cute anthro animals) is Go Morse Go!, you can get it on steam or itch.io, and when you turn up the difficulty settings, they don’t show a legend, so you can go entirely off sound.
There’s also MORSE, where you use morse to sink submarines. Haven’t played it — but it looks good!
